Ingredients

  • 4 oz sirloin steak
  • 1/2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 cups mixed greens
  • 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 small red onion, finely sliced
  • 1/4 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, torn
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 Thai chili pepper, very finely sliced
  • 1/2 love garlic
  • 1 Tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  • Finely slice the Thai chili pepper and place in a mortar and pestle. Add garlic, cilantro, and a pinch of salt. Grind until smooth paste forms.
  • Add fish sauce, lime juice, and olive oil to paste. Stir and set aside.
  • Preheat a frying pan over high heat until very hot and smoking.
  • Drizzle the sirloin steak with olive oil on both sides and sprinkle with a good pinch of salt and pepper. Cook the steak up to 10 minutes, depending of the level of doneness wanted in the steak.
  • Remove the steak from the frying pan and loosely tent it with foil. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly (against the grain of the meat).
  • Place the mixed greens in a bowl and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of the of the dressing made earlier. Toss the greens to get thoroughly coated with dressing.
  • Slice the steak thinly against the grain and place in the bowl with dressed mixed greens. Slice cherry tomatoes into halves and add them, as well as onion, cucumber, and cilantro to the bowl.
  • Drizzle with remaining dressing and toss gently. Serve.
